Life doesn’t always go the way we expect. Even the most faithful believers face trials—loss, disappointment, grief, sickness, betrayal. And when those storms come, it’s natural to ask, “God, where are You?”
But the truth is powerful and comforting: God’s love does not always keep us from trials—but it does see us through them. His presence in the middle of our pain is the anchor that holds us steady.
Many people wrongly assume that if God loves us, He’ll spare us from trouble. But scripture paints a different picture:
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33 (NIV)
Jesus never promised a life free from suffering. In fact, He prepared us for it. The difference is that His love provides strength, peace, and direction during the storm—not always deliverance from it.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.” – Isaiah 43:2 (NIV)
Notice the verse says “when” you pass through—not “if.” God’s promise is not the absence of storms, but the assurance of His presence in the midst of them. He walks with you. He strengthens you. He sustains you.
Don’t measure God’s love by your current situation. Measure it by the cross—where His love was proven once and for all. The storm may rage, but God remains. And His love is the lifeline that will carry you through.
